Brock Lightnin’: A Daughter Asks Her Father About Music

What happens when a daughter sits down with her father and asks him not simply what he does—but why he loves doing it?

In this first installment of Tell Me More, Kinfolk, musician Brock Lightnin’ is interviewed by his daughter about his love for music, his desire to create, and the experiences that continue to shape him as an artist.

This is not an outside interviewer documenting a musician.

This is a daughter listening to her father.

Through their conversation, we hear about music as passion, creativity, memory, identity, and family experience. His daughter asks the questions, follows her curiosity, and gives her father space to explain what making music means to him in his own words.

The conversation reminds us that family members often know what we do without always knowing why we do it, what it means to us, or where that passion came from.

That is where family storykeeping begins.

Sometimes the archive is not hidden in a box of photographs or buried in an old document.
